This will be a talk on the scientific method of improving one’s fish per gallon ratio, i.e. improving one’s efficiency in locating concentrations of feeding fish and catching them. It will not be a ROFFS™ infomercial.
I will review some of the satellite fisheries oceanographic research and operational work that I have been involved with at ROFFS™, NASA and NOAA, Office of Homeland Security (including search and rescue), and various state and federal environmental protection agencies (hazardous materials monitoring).
The seminar will focus on what is a preferred habitat and catchability, in terms of water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, clarity/turbidity, and water color.
The subjects of preferred habitat and catchability will be linked to different strategies and tactics that anglers should use to increase their catch rates in relation to the main factors affecting fish in the northeast (temperature, water color, water density, and bottom structure).
We will consider ocean convergence zones in forming concentrations of baitfish and finding concentrations of feeding fish.
There will be a question and answer period at the end of the 60-75 minute seminar. No charge, open to the public, limited seating.
